Finding Your Personal Style
Nowadays people want to label everything. They label your sexual orientation, gender, class, relationships, you name it. They even label how you dress! I’m personally not into the labeling of things, especially when it comes to style. That being said, finding your personal style doesn’t mean that you have to solely dress in the confines of how you would describe your style. And while this blog post is a set of rules to help you find your personal style, think of it as more of a guide to kickstarting your fashion journey. We constantly are growing and changing, so there is no need to stick to one thing and call it that. Now, that being said let’s get into how to find your personal style.
My first rule and probably the most important, dress in whatever makes you happy. Obviously, you should dress in whatever makes you happy because you are dressing for yourself and nobody else. Bonus, if you’re wearing what makes you happy, you’ll probably feel happy too. I would always tell my friends whenever they were having a bad week or month, to dress in clothes that make them happy and not care what anybody thinks. They usually would come back to me after having dressed without fear of judgment and tell me they felt much better, happy even! When you shine on the outside, you usually shine within.
This leads me to my second rule on finding your personal style, dress out of your comfort zone! This doesn’t mean throwing on something that you are going to be uncomfortable in all day, but trying on something new, something that at first you wouldn’t think would look good. Chances are that it will look good and if not, try something else!
Lastly, your personal style should scream you, who you are. This rule should go without saying since this blog post is about finding your personal style, but people can easily get caught up in what everybody else is doing and wearing. When it comes to your clothes and what you wear, you should be doing it for yourself. Fashion is quite literally an art form, a form of expression, so wear whatever you are feeling or want to feel, express yourself!
Your’s truly,
Ambar :)
